River cruises aren’t just for the older crowd – at least not anymore. Uniworld has recently unveiled its newest river cruise brand, designed for travellers between the ages of eighteen and forty.
Called, U BY UNIWORLD, the new offering will provide guests with the same quality of service that Uniworld is known for, but the difference will be in the ship’s décor, and with the onboard dining and cocktail experience, onboard entertainment, and land activities – all of which will be designed to appeal to the younger audience.
In describing its new product, Uniworld says, “U BY UNIWORLD will offer immersive, authentic and adventurous experiences for the next generation of river cruisers along the Instagram and Snapchat-worthy rivers of Europe and amazing cities such as Amsterdam, Paris and Budapest.”
Looking to provide an immersive European experience, U BY UNIWORLD cruises will focus on longer stays in each destination. With longer stays, guests can take full advantage of the nightlife scene, or to connect more intimately with the local culture.
Two Ships, One Great Brand
Two ships in the current Uniworld fleet – the River Baroness and the River Ambassador – will be dedicated to the U BY UNIWORLD brand. Both ships will undergo major renovations to reflect a more youthful image.
The modern, contemporary interior will feature a bold new look for the public areas, as well as freshly designed communal tables for meal times. Creative mixologists and international DJs will be regular fixtures on the ships.

The Managing Director for Uniworld Australia, Fiona Dalton added, “The European overseas odyssey has been an essential part of the young Australian traveller’s rite of passage for many years and U By Uniworld will be a market first catering for the important and ever-growing millennial segment.
“We are excited by the prospect of working closely with our sister brands in TTC, and our trade partners, to successfully launch this product in Australia in early 2017.”
Travellers and future guests can share their suggestions or ideas regarding future itineraries, dining and entertainment offerings with the hashtag #AllAboutU.
More information will available early 2017, with sales to begin in March. The first sailings are expected to begin in early 2018.
