The one thing not to be missed is?
On a clear day, a visit to the ‘Uetliberg Aussichtsturm‘ (observation tower) is a must! The tower is located on a mountaintop overlooking all of Zurich with views out over the Alps one side, and Zurich the other. It can easily be accessed from the local train system. Totally worth the panoramic views of Zurich and the Alps which are simply amazing!
If I had more time, I would have …
I would have popped over to Innsbruck, Austria for a visit. It’s an easy drive via Liechtenstein (another place I wanted to visit). Just the other side of mountains really. That’s what I love about Europe, neighbouring countries are just a short distance away compared to that of travelling within Australia!

My hot travel tip is …
The Lindt Chocolate factory outlet shop is awesome. There are so many more flavours than back at home in Australia, but just the plain milk chocolate is simply delicious.
If you have time, book ahead for one of the chocolate masterclasses where one of the local chocolatiers teach you the art of chocolate making and where you can create your very own flavour masterpiece!
How do you rank this trip?
Switzerland is amazing. So beautiful. You haven’t seen mountains till you’ve been to Switzerland. Everyone was very friendly and willing to help, even if some people didn’t speak English. But like most of Europe, English is widely spoken.

My favourite meal was …
Potato fondue and cheese! Loads of cheese!! So bad, but so good. You have to try the cheese fondue where they give you bread, vegetables, sausage and other items to dip.
Then also try the chocolate fondue for dessert with fresh strawberries, marshmallows, apples and grapes. Ask for a pretzel too. Chocolate dipped pretzels sound strange, but are really good!
I never travel without …
My iPhone 6. I can take pictures and video on there and the hotel Wi-Fi comes in handy so I can still stay in contact with friends and family back home.
Some final thoughts:
I felt very safe in Switzerland. It was very easy to get around and Zurich has a good train system that’s easy to use. Definitely worth a visit, I highly recommend it.
