Part of being a smart traveller is knowing what discounts, entitlements and offers are out there.
*Please note, information accurate at May, 2017.
Regular travellers understand how to take advantage of earlybird specials, flash sales, promo codes and special offers for example.
But sometimes, a great deal exists that’s a standard offer that you might not even know about.
If you are a regular train traveller anywhere in regional NSW for example, did you know you can get unlimited travel for a flat fee of your choice?
Sure, offers and concessions already exist for Pension and Seniors card holders – read our complete guide here – but if you exhaust those or don’t qualify, it’s hard to imagine a better deal than a Discovery Pass.
Available in either 14 day, one-month, three or six-month options, you pay a single flat fee for unlimited travel anywhere on the NSW TrainLink regional train and coach network. That’s right, anywhere among 365 destinations as often as you like!
You might be travelling for work or regular short breaks, visiting medical specialists on an ongoing basis or visiting family for example – the more you travel with a Discovery Pass in hand, the cheaper every journey becomes.
Here’s a cost comparison between Premium (First Class) cabins and Economy Travel Passes.
Whichever one you choose, you can stop your journey wherever you want, for as long as you want and you can purchase the Pass up to six months before you travel before activating it with your first journey.
As noted in the table, there is also a Discovery Pass for children, so travelling with family is exceptional value.

If you are making regular trips to/from Sydney from regional areas – see the boundary distinction in the map below – this is a significant bonus. (Click to zoom in and out).
