Having already conquered the waterways of Europe as the world’s largest river-cruise operator, Viking has announced it will add a further 24 river vessels to its existing fleet of 65.
Creating more waves, Viking is also commissioning another six ocean cruise ships to be delivered from 2024 to 2027. Unsurprisingly, the extra vessels mean more ports-of-call.
The latest ocean cruise ship to launch, Viking Jupiter, will be christened in Oslo in June 2018.
Accommodating up to 930 guests, the ships use state-of-the-art technologies and feature elegant Scandinavian design. Boasting an all-veranda stateroom layout, guests are treated to an all-inclusive style of service.
“When we launched our first ocean ship in 2015, we set out to reinvent ocean cruising,” said Torstein Hagen, Chairman of Viking. “We focus on the destination, and we do not cram our ships with gimmicks and waterslides. Our understated, elegant, award-winning ships are designed to simply enable our guests to better explore their destination.”

These immersive itineraries combine an ocean and a river cruise itinerary for a once-in-a-lifetime voyage of discovery, allowing passengers to enjoy the value of both river and ocean cruising in the one itinerary.
The Grand European & Viking Fjords
On The Grand European & Viking Fjords, departing 26 May and 2 June 2019, guests will visit 19 ports from Bergen, via Amsterdam to Budapest, or vice versa.
Admire Rhine Valley vistas from a 900-year-old castle and sample the food and wine of Austria’s Wachau on Viking’s most iconic river itinerary, before settling in for the ocean section of their adventure, setting sail for the beautiful Skagen of Denmark.
Visit cosmopolitan Oslo, browse the fish market and fortress of Kristiansand and marvel at the magnificent fjord setting of tiny Flåm on this richly rewarding journey into Scandinavia’s most scenic and fascinating corners.
Prices start from $12,990 per person, which includes a saving of $2,000 per couple, as well as free flights if booked before 30 April 2018.
Rhine & Viking Shores & Fjords
On the Rhine & Viking Shores & Fjords, from Bergen to Basel or vice versa (both departing 2 June 2019), guests will tour highlights of the legendary Rhine River, then discover Nordic wonders by sea, experiencing cultured Basel before setting sail for Germany’s storied Black Forest and France’s multicultural Strasbourg.
Setting off from Norway’s dramatic fjord landscapes, journey from vibrant Oslo and history-rich Kristiansand to cosmopolitan Stavanger and spectacularly scenic Flåm, before arriving in historic Bergen, a city with deep Viking roots.
Prices start from $10,190 per person, which includes a saving of $1,400 per couple, as well as flights for $995 per person if booked before 30 April 2018.
